The year 2020 brought the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to Syria with dire consequences.
In 2020, Syria faced the devastating impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. To address this crisis, ADRA collaborated with understanding donors to repurpose funds from ongoing projects and secure specific funding. Their goal was to launch a response initiative aimed at safeguarding families in Aleppo, Damascus, Hama, Homs, Idlib, Ar Raqqa, and Rural Damascus.
The response effort primarily involved distributing sanitization and cleaning kits to households and students. Additionally, ADRA extended support to 2,200 daily laborers and children who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 preventive measures implemented by the Syrian Government. In September 2021, ADRA further provided hot meals to 1,500 vulnerable beneficiaries, including children, orphans, and the elderly, in local institutions.
