ADRA Impact in the Shelter Sector

As more neighborhoods in Syria become safe for resettlement, families who have been displaced, sometimes for many years or multiple times, are deciding to go back to their homes. However, the crisis has left their houses damaged and unsafe, lacking the necessary conditions for proper shelter. In response, ADRA carries out a number shelter interventions to assist families in returning home safely. This includes making repairs to apartments and common areas; restoring water, sanitation, and electric services; as well as removing visual reminders of the conflict. ADRA collaborates with the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment (MoLAE) and the Governorates of Aleppo, Homs, Rural Damascus, and Deir ez-Zour to provide shelter support for vulnerable returnees.
